I ordered some PB checks from Sage.
Most of them had a cut on the side.
They went on OK. Could have been much better.
Who makes them for Sage???
How do they compare to those made with a Pat Marlin check maker????
I like the looks of the soda bottle shaped checks for PB boolets.

We make our own PB checks with FCIII tools. The extra crease is from excess material thickness. They don't make every thickness of material. We pick a thin material that will crimp on and not be so thick it will not enter the sizing die and tear. We try to minimize the bottle cap look. We can make bottle caps on request. We offer modification instruction for your sizing dies in Aluminum orders. We have given verbal instructions over the phone to new casters and members. We offer 100% money back guaranty on all products.

The checks do help it shoot better.
It's just that with the cut, it sometimes rips.
I did round and polish the die.
That did help a bunch.
I size then install the check, and size again. Both with sizing lube.
Then I pan lube and size again.
I'm just thinking that without the little cut, I wouldn't get as many ripped checks.
I've never tried to use a Lyman sizer. I have two of them.
I'm collecting dies and punch to try it.

So you're running a thin pop can check through your sizing die 2x ?

Running it through two times.
Kind of extra work, but it's the only way I found that the check will not rip.
I tried seating the check, lubing it, then running it through the sizer, and they all ripped.
This is through a Lee sizer.
I'm going to try it through a Lyman sizer as soon as I get the die and nose punch for it.

How hard is your alloy? That makes a huge difference.

Best to size and lube with PB check shortly after casting, but real hard alloy can be a problem. There are many customer tips on my website for using LEE dies with PB checks.
