171263 171264 just playing around with COAL.

5R5---no powder coat, just lube and gas check.

One of the guy's at the range I talk to a lot, commented that he would have never thought my cast boolits would shoot that good.

Try a heavier boolit. As far as store bought, this one likes the Winchester 69 grain match...8 rds same hole.171600

That's a good group with the Winchester load even though the target satsuma 50 yards. Do you have a thread somewhere about this rifle?

There's actually a couple of threads.Normally when I'm just testing loads,I see no reason to walk farther than 50 yards.Back and knees hurt a lot. When I find something I think will work, then I move to the 100 yard line.As of yet,I haven't made it that far.We are leaving for Rhode Island tomorrow, when I return,we'll see what happens at 100.

Even though it does like the Winchester ammo,at 40 bucks a box of 20,that ain't good and besides it goes against the fact,I didn't make them.

he was also referring to a post he made in the powder coat section, where I suggested he drop the coating and try again.
it looks like they work just fine without the extra steps.

You are right my friend(5R5),but I like to play.I am also trying to determine if the gas check will be that big of difference.Hornady's vs my homemade,so far it has.Just as a different primer made a shot group difference. The powder coat was a complete waste of time and effort.I do still pc the wife's 45's.Makes her happy,so I do it.
