G,day,

I am about to cast some Lee 405 grn, HB, for my Marlin 1895 in 45/70. Intend to use 13 grains Trail Boss for approx 1007 feet/sec. Do I need to size and lube these bullets?

cheers

Yes. Size to .460", if you can, or .459" and yes they need lube. Do you have a lube sizer? Are you tumble lining? BLL works better than straight alox imho.

Hand lube , you do not need to size shoot them as cast IMHO

I have a lyman lubesizer. I will buy a .459 sizing die, some lube sticks then and go ahead. Do you know what top punch I should use? Thank you for your help Waco and Geezer in NH.
Cheers.

For a top punch, I just use the round nose top punch intended for the 230 grain round nose bullet for the 45 ACP. Works well with the Lee 405 grain bullet.

RCBS top punch number: 374 82519
Lyman top punch number: 374
