I guess the correct designation would be 6x45. I know this was a popular AR round about 20 years ago.

Have not shot mine for a while, XP 100 in a pistol form. Easy to make with virgin brass, you may loose a few with fired brass.
I want to say mid to late 70's or early 80's it had a good following on the BR circuit. Then the PPC came along and that was that.
Mine is a dandy with H335 and a 65-80 grain bullet.
Never tried cast in it as I am well stocked in FLGC's for it. And, I do look for speed in this one.

I shoot a similar round - the 6X47 which has about .030 longer case body and a little longer neck.

It is a 20 " barreled 40x BR bench rest rifle and is by far the most accurate rifle I have ever fired.

I built an AR in 6x45 for deer hunting about 30 years ago. It was so accurate it also became my varmint rifle.

My cousin and I have been working with a couple of bolt action 6mmx45 the last few months. We love it.Brass is easy to form. Just run the 223 bass thru the 6x45 sizing die. Loads tried have been from 58 gr to 100gr . Our barrels have a 1-10 twist but the light bullets shoot just as accurate as the 100gr ones. Have shot them out to 250 yards with groups running around 3 inches when we do are part. Hope this was of some help. Best powder for us so far has been H322

Put a Shaw Varmit contour 6x45 stainless barrel, bought from Gun Shack (in Texas), on my Axis .223 rifle about 8 months ago. Cost was $233 to my door for the barrel. I've very much enjoyed shooting my 6x45. rifle. Cheap to reload and quite accurate for me.

I shoot a 6x45 on a Remington 722 action with PacNor Match barrel, I've shot 60 & 70 grain jacketed slugs for Groundhogs and have played around with the RCBS 95 grain cast as well.

My alloy weighs in @ 90 grains, sizing to .245" but sizing the front driving band to .2435", using PMC brass, Federal Match rifle primer, 20.6 grains of IMR 4895, Chrono's @ 2022 FPS.

I have four AR's in the 6X45. I currently have a 26" Black Hole barrel mated to one of my Savage actions. Getting ready to wring it out in tandem with a 24" BHW AR that I have shot in F-Class quite a bit. Data gathering for the book that I am writing One of the best balanced and under appreciated cartridges out there IMHO. I've shot an AR for years in 3Gun and won a small truck load of Gold with it in those and in the Police Games. A great cartridge for police type sniper matches on steel and paper ou tto about 350 or so using 87 Hornadys.

I have a TC Contender barrel in 6 TCU .....the brother to the 6/223
I have never tried cast in it
But 70 Gr Hornady bullets work wonders on groundhogs in the barrel
