I have 357 and 44 swaging die sets from C-H. I'm wondering how hard of an alloy I can swage in them. I've used pure lead and the 1/2" deep cups for both of them for years but I got to thinking that maybe I could use a slightly harder alloy and maybe cut the cost a little on my slugs. Can I? Thanks in advance.

...............I'd say ................probably:-) But the best thing would be to call Dave at C-H/4D and see what he says about it?

Harder alloy will make it more likely that you 'jug' the dies, that is, expand them when you are completing the stroke - not a good thing. Straight WW's may be OK - maybe . . .
