a six year old 20 gauge smooth rifle that was originally custom built by chris walker for mr. daniel, who had only fired 6 rounds threw her. but she's new to me. 8) 8lbs 6ozs total unloaded weight. the dense maple stock has a deep and dark aqua-fortis stain that all but hides a very nice curly burly grain structure (the krappy images don't do the wood grain or olde timey finish justice). the furniture is all brass and highly patina'd. the the 44" OTR swamped Colerain barrel and davis colonial two screw lock are deeply browned. the sliding patch box is a nice touch. she balances very nicely offhand and the overall condition is darned near excellent. looks like the gun was time warped from the 18th century to the 21st. my big concern over the trigger was laid to rest as it's so smooth and effortless. i just cast up 3 dozen .600 balls (323 grains) and will get her out to the range next week for sure.

thank ye, andy. this is one i've been seeking for awhile, particularly the 20 gauge bore. up next will be a custom to watson flintlock build that's a cross between a hawken and british sporter, that'll have all the features i've always wanted but could never find in one rifle. as a result, the M&H custom .45 flintlock will go up for sale this week ...

Awesome. I sure love a Colerain barrel. That's a very versatile smoke pole you have there. Fur and feathers covered.

.62 smooth bore. Sounds like hogs in the morning and quail in the afternoon. Nice acquisition.

she's a shooter and that .600 ball leaves a might big hole in most anything it hits.

.010" linen patching lubed with melted-in gato feo BPCR lube (sheep tallow, beeswax. paraffin wax), 60 grains of swiss 3f, 3f in the pan.
