With all the sharing here about smoking meats, when my wife asked what I wanted for Father's Day I replied a smoker. She asked which one and then borrowed my card to order it. I have pork in brine that will be ready when the smoker arrives next week. Already have chicken, brisket, and just now a pork loin. Going broke and getting fat! Buckboard bacon coming up.

Spending someone elses money is so much more fun LOL. Seriously though you will really like the smoked meats. Dont forget the salmon and jerky. Jerky dried in hickory or apple smoke has a really good flavor.

I smoked a pork shoulder and a brisket Memorial Weekend. Practically smoked the neighbors out.

You'll be hooked.
Smoked meat, especially when it is your own doing, is a real treat.

Well, you told your wife which one - but you didn't tell us!

Which ever one it is, you are going to have good eats with it for sure...

I love my Master built.
But back to money, I have NONE, wallet is always empty because Carol handles all the money and always has. Best thing ever, she got all dept GONE so we owe nothing.
I don't buy her anything because she still has to pay the credit so I tell her to get what she wants.
That started when we went together, I bought her all kinds of stuff but she never liked any of it. So I told her to get what she wants herself. I got griped at with what I bought and also when I bought nothing. Near 60 years and I still don't know what she wants. I only tell her spend what you want, I don't care. She lets me buy stuff as long as we can afford it without a debt.

My Carol is much the same as yours. A true treasure!

They sure are. We were just going together when I went into the Army. She worked and paid on my Chevy. I sent money but Army pay was and still is poverty. I got home and we went to the Judge to get married. My mother was the witness. I worked at UAL, think pay was $2.25 an hour, midnight's.
We both worked very hard and never took a dime. A good woman is a treasure.

I got the smoker late today and am seasoning it as suggested. Apple wood sure smells good!

Apple smoked pork chops and pepper poppers at 225 for 1 1/2 Hr. Served with zucchini sticks and baked beans with bacon, green chili's, and BBQ sauce. Wow! This will make you slap yo mama! Wife thought there was a little too much cayenne even though I used 1/4 of what was called for. She said the flavor was worth a little heat. We had BBQ sauce on the table but didn't add to the chops, they needed none.

My own preference is Hickory and then Mesquite both are good.

We have eaten mesquite smoked foods for years as it is a Texas wood, but the apple is nice for a change. I have mesquite, pecan, cherry, oak, and others available as a friend is a tree trim and removal person.

You lucky dog! I've been using oak lately...trying to use up all my yard trimmings too. Few more limbs are hanging low so I'll be stocked for a few more years yet. 3 30 yr old oaks in the front make for a lot of raking and trimming.

Growing up my dad always had pecan wood from my grandparents on hand, his chicken is still better than mine.
