Anyone here load cast boolits for their 9mm Largo ? I have a Star and two Astra 400's. I would like to hear of any good medium loads with a 125 grain cast round nose. I have a Saeco mold for that size and a .355 sizer die. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, Tom

The only data I have in 9mm Largo is for .355 125gr. FMJ....no cast boolit data.
I got it from www.9mmlargo.com/cartridge/loads.htm (http://www.9mmlargo.com/cartridge/loads.htm)
It has loads listed for 9 different powders....it might be a place to start.
The starting FMJ loads , used with cast boolits , should be a place to start. You could drop down 1.0 grain, load a few and see how they function. Data on this one is slim and none !

It's been my experience that any standard velocity cast load for 9x19mm (Luger, Parabellum) published in the loading manuals will work well for 9mm Largo.

use .38acp loads. or starting loads for the .38super. but don't use hot .38super loads.

I had a Largo carbine that I loaded with 130gr RN cast, a 38special bullet, sized to .356". Shot
pretty good out to 50yds. I went by 38acp data. Killed a lot of barn pigeons with it.

Thanks for the info. Right about loading info being scarce. I have been using 9mm luger data so far. The Star is a pretty strong pistol from what I have gathered. The Astras are older and weaker. Fun to shoot once you get by the trigger pull. I might push the Star a little bit more.
I will try the loads you all suggested. Thanks. Tom

I use the same bullet, the same powder, and the same amount of powder in the 9mm Largo as I do in the 9mm Luger. I have never had a problem with doing that. I have two Stars (original and Super) and an Astra 400. Early on, I used .38ACP and .38 Super brass loaded with .38ACP loading dies. Since Starline started offering 9mm Largo brass, I have retired the .38 brass. I also have correct loading dies now.

Thanks Bruce. Didn't know that. I will call them Monday. I also started off with 9 mm luger data. Just looking for favorite loads. Thanks

When I first got my Star Modelo Super 9mm Largo back in the 90's, there was no data and I .was compelled to seek my own path. What I found was that High end 9mm Luger loads made excellent Largo Loads. My standard load became a Lee 120 tc over 5.0 grains of ww-231 but more recently I switched to Power Pistol and 6 grains under the same boolit. A .357 boolit works well, but in mine a .358 gave occasional problems if the gun was not spotlessly cleaned.
I haven't shot mine much in the last few years, due to the cost and availability of brass. I could kick myself for not buying a 9 mm Luger barrel for mine when Federal Ordnance had them on sale back around the Mid-nineties.
