I got back out today for another go around and everything went really good, i tried 80 grains last time out and it was ok but i was confident i could do better, today i bumped up to 90 grains (95 weight grains) Swiss 2F powder, Lee S&W 500-440 mold, paper patched with 2 wraps of 9# onion skin paper and ran dry through a .498 Lee sizing die. 3 shots clover leafed and the other 2 touching, about an inch and a half group at 80 yards. I shot over my chronograph today and got 1361 fps. This rifle will flat out shoot if i do my part! Lyman 57SML peep with Lyman 17AHB globe and lee shavers insert, buffalo arms platinum lined nipple. Im liking this setup a whole bunch!!

Good shooting for 80 yards. Equivalent to a 50-70 Government I'd say.
Been waiting for this update and I'm happy to see things turned out well with your project rifle.

I forgot to mention i was using over powder wads, i use an oversize wad to create the best possible seal, in my 45 Cal GM LRH i use .50 Cal wads, in a .50 i use .54 Cal wads, in a .54 i use .58 Cal wads. I have a few hundred of each Oxyoke brand, i ended up buying a punch set and plan to make my own wads when i get through these store bought ones.
I am very pleased with this rifles accuracy, my next step is to stretch her out to 300 yards
