I have a Browning HP target pistol. To tell the truth I have never loaded that many
9mm Luger, because ammo was cheap and the pistols I have owned weren't target
grade. This gun is a tack driver with Win. Target and does well with the major brands.
I don't shoot military ammo in it. I have wanted to work up a cast load for it, but
have no experience with 9mm and cast. I have 10 different .358 molds from 125gr
to 168gr to experiment with. Anyone have any good loads for a Hp?

Slug the bore, my FN has a .358 groove. Friend of mine has a browning with .357 groove.

I use 358 inline and it works well with my lee 125gr and MIhec 125gr HP

I shoot either the #356402 or the Mihec 125 gr. HP in mine sized .357 using 231 powder. You can slug the barrel but its faster just to try a few rounds sized either .357 or 358 in your gun & you'll see what it likes best. You probably already have some loaded up, that's why its faster.

In my BHP, I like the 125 grain truncated cone designs like the RCBS design sized to .358."

I've found that Unique, 231, Green Dot and Herco powders all work well for velocity and reliability. As with any load, find the starting load in a manual or on-line and then work up to your accuracy and power goals. It doesn't take a lot of powder in the 9mm to get there.

I envy you your match BHP. I should have bought one when they were available in the late 80s.

Question: anybody know what late model (2000's and up) commercial HP's tend to slug out at? I'm saving for an NIB Hi-Power Mk. III and hope that it likes the Lee 355-120-TC at .357 as my other pistols do.

My HP is a mid 70's vintage. I have sized the RCBS 125 RN GC bullet as small as .356 without leading issues. Never slugged the barrel, but my opinion is that the gas check is very forgiving with undersized bullets. At least, that's been my experience with handgun calibers like 9MM, 38 SPL, 357 & 44 Magnum, over the last 40 years. The 45 LC is the only handgun, that's never seen a checked bullet. Over the years, I have, all but, gotten away from GC's mainly due to cost and availability. Pretty much, only use them for rifles.
