Ive got some light mounting brackets for my jeep that are powder coated and wonder if I can spray matte clear wheel paint over them to help them last longer. Can you do this and do you think it would be of any benefit. these were cheap mounts and I don't know how good the powder coating is. Also could I put them in my tumbler I use for powder coating bullet and do another coat over the original or do I have to worry about two different powder coats reacting to each other?

Yes you can paint over powder coated items. Priming will be required. Paint is no better a protector than powder coat tho. If the mounting brackets will not be subject to scrapes and bruises they should be fine as is, otherwise you might try a satin finish sold at Tractor Supply and similar stores used for protecting outdoor equipment.
