I bought a couple of cases from Target Sports less than 20 minutes ago. Cases were $170/case free shipping - that is 34¢/round. Their web page showed more than 99 cases in stock prior to my order. I was about to furnish the link to a friend, but I checked it to verify no changes.

GONE!

Several vendors have the product at about half-a-buck/round. Those who are comfortable using this ammunition - I suggest you replenish. Such a run on ammunition as I noted may indicate a shortage is coming.

Hope this helps someone.

A case is 10 boxes (500 rounds). Having 99 cases disappear in 20 minutes would indeed be something to fret about. I suspect you just happened to catch their website during a periodic inventory number refresh.

34 cents a round for +P ammo is a dandy price. Another vendor was selling these at the same price, and they also sold out, but they still have lots of other 38 in stock.

There was recently a thread on the .38 "FBI load" which makes for good reading.

This is my carry load for my 642. It's accurate and groups nice as well. I would love to have found a case of it.

Try pre plugging the HP with paraffin to help insure expansion. It's a trick the FBI played with in the 1970's. It really works.

5.0 gr of Unique under a HP version of 358429 cast of 8 BHN range scrap is a
dead ringer for this load. Penetration in wet newsprint is almost exactly 1/2 of what
you get with ballistic gelatin. So, expect 10" penetration (4 1/4 + 3/4 boolit length = 5 inch,
times 2 = 10 inches)

My understanding is that R-P makes this load in periodic runs. Given how popular it is, it wouldn't be surprising that it would sell out quickly. Alot of smaller shops buy their ammo from big online retailers like Midway and Target Sports also.
