I got 110lbs of WW plus a few pieces of lino for $70.00 from the only local scrap dealer in town. This is the first time in a long time he has had any WW.
Sign of the times I guess, now I gotta get to smelting.
What is best temp to keep pot while smelting, just in case I missed sorting out the zinc.

Zinc melts at 787 degrees, which is considerably higher than WW's. If you stay around 650 to 700 degrees, you should be fine. Linotype melts at about 450 degrees depending on it's content, but I doubt that you are mixing the two while smelting.

WWs are molten at very close to 500 degs....400 degs or something they are oatmeal and then 500 or so they are molten. its kinda fun to watch steal, velve stems, rocks and other junk float on top. Stir a little so you even/spread the heat out. Remember, do not add any moisture, it gets real hyper, releases the Tinsil Fairy and she causes bad burns to the skin. Safety Glasses minimum safety gear.

If you check the pot every 10 or 15 minutes you'll be able to skim off the odd looking ones before they get hot enough to melt.

The place on Excelsior Ave. a guy at work got it for me. About 30% of it is lino.

Interesting way to haul a round bale. We generally carry them horizonal, either stick a spike in the end or clamp the ends hydraulicly from the power lift or a front end loader. DALE
