Found this mold on sale, going to give it a try in the Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger. Hopefully test it out this weekend, I have sized some to .4765 and some are going to be as cast at .477, just run through the die to be lubed.

Let us know how it does. I have 2 different wfn 400 grain for my 480, have thought about trying the rcbs swc but have not dove in head first yet.

I think some have reported good luck with that design. I tried it and never warmed up to it, finding other designs that did better. Each gun is a rule unto it's own, and it may be your magic boolit. The same reason I tried it ;)

I will let you know how they shoot from mine. Ultimately, I am thinking I may plunk down the money and have Veral Smith make me an LBT LFN bullet around 400 grains.

I would call that money well spent. A very close copy of LEE's 400 RF with a real crimp groove would be a winner. I have a few LBT's, but always went with the WFN profile. I think the LFN is more forgiving and flexible. I do like the 400 gr. weight. Good luck.

My Lee 400 gr mould produces boolits that are more accurate than I am.

My Lee drops bullets that are undersized, they shoot ok, but not great.

Still looking for that one mold that is "the one" for my 480 Ruger.

I have the old group buy lee 400 gn wfn with real grease grooves and gas checked.

both the rcbs and the lee bullet are great bullets. Ive got a lot of different 475 molds and will say that these two bullet designs are as good as any of them. I shot one buffalo with the rcbs bullet and it did well. Both are very accurate in my 475 guns.

Have you tried powder coating them to get the diameter up? I bought a used Lee 400 gr mold I knew was undersized, but have yet to try it with PC.

I have not tried powder coating, I am thinking about assembling some stuff to try it, I love to shoot cast in my 375 Ruger, and I am thinking that PC may give me the ability to push a little harder. If I do get the stuff to PC, I will for certain try it on the Lee bullet.

I bought 3 of the LEE molds before I got one that was decent. It too is a touch small, I may give it a quick lapping, but it has shot excellently for me. After reading this thread, I went and ordered another one as my last 3 LEE molds were excellent, in spec and very round. I hope my luck holds for one more :)

I like the Lee 400 but still made my own, weighs 420 gr and it shoots better. It will fit the Freedom .475 and any .480.169785 It is a PB.
I was surprised at how well the lee shot with a PB and it was a turning point away from a GC. Yeah, yeah, I always figured some guns need them, I was educated.
I cast mine from WD WW metal and it is the baddest deer thumper I ever used.
I duplicated it for the .500 jrh at 440 gr but the heavy boolit was a hole pinch so I need to soften half the nose.
The .475 at full hard is so effective I dare not soften anything so I expect the .480 is as good.
I can send a few to anyone that wants to get a custom made, want nothing except if it is made a production item, call it a JM boolit. It normally puts 5 shots in 5/8" or less at 50 yards depending on me.
Don't look funny at the narrow base band or change it. I have no drawings so you need to send the boolit to the mold maker. The darn thing works as is.
I did send off a few but it was changed and some of them were sent to me to test, did good but not quite, very close but no cigar. I don't know what was in my mind when I cut the cherry going against the WORD. But you know I am a crazy old goat. I admit I was worried until I shot it.
The duplicated boolit in the .500 jrh did this at 50 169786
Then 100 yards 169787
Reading all the specs with this angle and that, base at such and front band at another---PHOOO, a mud rut, got to get crazy.
