:confused:I just picked up about 45 pounds from a local scrap dealer. It had the wheel wieghts, stick on wheel weights, lead sheathed cable and sheet lead.
What I have a question about is a quantity of solder. It was marked lead free, silver bearing solder. What did I get?
Thanks.

what i have is 95% tin 5%antimony. I used some silver bearing solder and it is mostly tin/antimony with a drop of silver.makes good boolits.use it, not enough silver to efect the boolits.one of the comerical casters claim to have silver in thier boolits. Bill

It's just typical lead-free plumbing solder. Surprised they're tossing it, since it's worth so much money. It's probably 96 Sn / 4 Ag in composition.
I think anything more than 1% Silver and it kills werevolves; you're all set.

Thanks for the replys. I don't think he really knew what he had. He told me he doesn't take lead on a regular basis. I think I probably wound up with about 7 to 8 pounds of solder, so I guess I did alright at .50 cents a pound!
