I did contact then for another issue with the sizer. The adjustment screw is croked and very hard to turn. 12 days and no response yet.

I am looking at star sizer right now. I should of got one in the begening.

I suggest calling them promptly Tuesday morning and explain to them in a nice calm voice how displeased you are...at least that's what I'd do.

1/4 inch thick steel strap was what I used. The piece in question is cast and whoever finished mine ground the casting too much. !/4" steel strap can be cut with a hand held jig saw and isn't porous like cast iron. My repair has lasted 5 years so far.

And you can add a couple inches to the handle and really torture the machine.

Yup, if you own and use one long enough, the handle will break. I've made new handles for both of mine.

Lyman will price you a new handle well that is what i got out of them, I made me a new handle and moved on. As many that break you would think they know there is a problem and do something about it but not so far that i know of.

Thought so by the way the metal looked .... reason I asked was there was a thread recently about someone having problems on the upstroke ( in essence getting stuck iirc ) also can't remember how they fixed what was the problem

I did order the replacement part and I will have one made in steel instead of cast.

12 days without answer! That what bother me the most.

problem is like the sprue handle on the Lee 6-gang molds. have to fill them starting with 1 then 1, 2 then etc so mold heats up and stays a bit warm while you cut the sprue.
I solved the problem by buying KAL's replacement handles http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?97479-KAL-quot-Steel-quot-Cam-Lever-for-Lee-Moulds

Also got his aftermarket sprue plate and handle for the Lyman 4-gang molds http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?138822-KAL-Steel-Cam-Lever-for-Lyman-Moulds

He's a vendor here which is who I like to support

both do a great job, add to my enjoyment of the hobby and that's what it's all about as it's a stress reliever. Money well spent

Lyman is also in the business of selling parts. It took over 3 months to receive a trimmer pilot. Even though there was no charge, the aggravation was a PIA.

I've had good experiences with Lyman, after calling them. Equipment breaks, no big deal...

The benefit of owning the RCBS is that they would have a new part on its way to you free of charge. I have not had any trouble getting parts for any of my LAM II's and have yet to be charged for any replacement parts.

Experience comes from mistakes and Lyman owners have more experience. :bigsmyl2:

My Dad had a saying that I recall from way back in the 1950`s about something frustrating like this. "Now wouldn`t that FROST an eskimo`s butt!"Robert

Just another reason I have two 4500's hanging in my loading room closet. Best reason is so I can use two different lubes, all I have to do is unclamp one and clamp the other in it's place. Second reason came to light when my second sizer showed up missing a part. It was easy to figure out what was missing and describe it to the CS folks. Meanwhile I swiped the part off my old sizer to get my new one in service. If one breaks I'll hopefully be able to swap a part off the old one and finish the job at hand.

Excellent reason for stepping up to RCBS.

I've had to replace that link on my Lymans a few times, until I made my own from steel, and is the main reason that I recommend the RCBS machine.

I Got a MAG-20 in Nov 2009 for my retirement. Set in my basement until June 16 and didn't work. Lyman won't stand behind it.
Out of warranty an don't have parts to fix it. Offered $150 in Lyman products. The pot has never been heated so was not checked at the factory before shipment. Says they check before shipping in the instruction guide. This one sure wasn't. Would not recommend buying Lyman.
