I've watched a lot of this guy's videos. They're usually pretty interesting, although I wish they were a little longer. If you check his video list, you can find another on one of the variants that was missing in this video. I'll post it here if I can locate it.

Thank you Art….I've been confused for many years about the early models. This was especially enlightening.
It goes to support the idea of waiting for the mfgrs. to improve on early models of new technology…especially when the safety aspects are sketchy.
How about those early slide pins breaking and getting a slide in the face?

Good vid! Nice to see all those in one place.

For those wishing to nerd out further: the rounded top 1911 rear sight only lasted to 1914, when they went to a square top with a u-notch, which stayed with the original, skinny, "fingernail" front sight up until 1943, when we got the square notch and square ramp style front with serrations. Still low and tiny by today's standards, but a lot easier to see than the 1911-'42 version.

One of those collector "stickler" items - the sight changes were NOT in fact part of the 1911-to-1911-A1 changeover, but were instituted within the production runs of each.

Great video. Thanks for posting that.

In my LEO career, I came a across one once. The owner had 38 Super +P ammo loaded in it. I advised the owner not to use such hot ammo in the old Colt, but he just shrugged off the advice. God looks after fools and children.

Thank You I'm a big fan of the 1911 and learned some things I didn't know from this vid.
