Well I'm in Dallas for business this week and had some downtime to sneak away. Found DFW gun range to be very clean/friendly with standard range rules. They were fine with me policing brass, no inane "no reloads" rule, and friendly folks! I would definitely visit again when I am here next time.

Guns shot: Model 10 38spec + beretta px4 9mm full size

First pic was just revolver rounds, 2nd pic is 9mm @ the smaller impact targets. Both shot at 10yds 2 hand free standing.

After ~100rnds the brass was difficult to push into the chamber for revolver. It is a 38spec only but maybe the carbon ring is getting too bad if its causing difficult to chamber. The rounds were dropping in with no resistance to start. Any suggestions? Load was 158gr SWC over 3.9gr hp-38.

Could be carbon or even a lube build up from the cast bullets. A .40 or .45 brush on a short non rotating rod works good to scrub out the chambers and throats. a little solvent on brush insert carefully and rotate 2-3 revolutions in each chamber. Let sit 5-10 mins for solvent to work. Wrap a patch around brush and repeat, you will be surprised what comes out. Lube with lead may be the culprit here also. If you can find the longer rifle brushes they work better than the shorter pistol length as the do the whole chambers length one shot.

Cool, there were a number of SWC commercial lubed in the mix that I've been trying to use up. I'll give the larger brush a whirl they are pretty cheap even if I ruin it. The bore/barrel appears spotless just the cylinder needs cleaning up. Thanks for the tip.

Commercial boolits have a bad habit of being too soft, undersized, and/or having a lube too hard for the application.

Yeah I know...but they were just sitting on the bench begging me to load them and get rid of em. Who am I to argue?

I use a 45 cal. brass brush on a drill motor, be careful the chuck doesn't hit the cylinder. It polishes the chambers out good as new.
