Called Brownells to get the Bisley conversion kit for my Ruger Super Blackhawk. Waited to long! They discontinued the kit because Ruger has discontinued the parts. Now what? I will start looking for a Ruger Bisley.

Why??? Bisley smishley. maybe they found they do not shoot as good and many don't want them. Economics says if you sell one a year, you do not fill the warehouse with them. Personally, they belong in the dump!

Glad I got a set of parts squirreled back.

Before you go with the Bisley, checkout a set of grips. I was all about the Bisley until I put a set of Badger Gunfighter grips on my NMBH. It is now my favorite gun to bolster hold and shoot.

If I'm reading between the lines correctly here--does this mean that Ruger has discontinued their Bisley line of centerfire revolvers?

Why? Because he wants one. Why do you think Ruger makes them? Because some people do like them.

Give Brownell's a call they show them in stock. Brownell's web site is normally up-to-date with availability. http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/frame-parts/frames/grip-frame-prod44165.aspx

For my hands the Ruger Bisley is near perfect. Have you fitted one before? They are a lot more work than most expect.

When the Ruger does the complete firearm the grip and the frame are polished together. You have to fit the grip without harming the finish if the frame.

What parts besides the frame are needed for the Bisley convertion?

Thanks Aaron

I went on Badger site and found the Hunter grips. I will call him Tuesday and see if the grips fill in around the square trigger guard. I ordered my Bisley frame from Midway and the found a article on the Ruger forum explaining frame sises. Looks like the Bisley has less space between the finger and grip and the hunter frame has the most. Going to check with Badger before I start.

Herrett also makes nice grips. Im
away from home for the next 10 days. I'll try to post a photo of my NMBH. If you look for
a grip that moves the hand down a little and away from the trigger guard, life will be much better than smacking knuckles all the time.

Here is a random pic from the web that illustrates what I'm trying to explain about moving the hand away from the trigger guard.

These look comfy to me. Unsure of brand or model, but just illustrating the point.

The grips look like it is now a Bisley with finger grooves. Should work nicely:)

Hard to see but looks like a square trigger guard in the picture. Went on the Ruger forum and there a collector expert gave a run down on the different Ruger frames. I decided to sell my new ss frame and buy the Badger Hunter wood grips and get away from rubber grips . They moved my finger away from the trigger guard but seemed to twist when firing.

That was my problem, mashed huge knuckle so I shifted hold as I got beat. I can't stand the square guard on the SBH either so I need Pachs on them. Change grips if needed.

I just finished installing a Bisley frame on my SBH Hunter and am waiting impatiently for a set of walnut grips to arrive to finish it off. A tip of the hat for posting the availability of the frames at Midway to pkie44-I hadn't checked for a bit and they had been out of stock for quite a while. I really like the bisley frame far more than the stock cowboy frame, but there's plenty that would not agree.

I just got my 1st bisley Blackhawk last week its a 45 colt 7.5 incher . ive been shooting regular framed blackhawks for over 20 years .to each there own but I prefer the regular frame ,I do like the bisley hammer though . I wouldn't mind installing them in the rest of my blackhawks and maybe my single six .is that doable without changing other internals ?

Bisley hammers are a drop in fit. You may also look at Super Blackhawk hammers they have a lower spur. I put SBH hammers on some of my BH"s and they make quite a difference.

Bisley hammer is not a drop in fit for the Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk frame. I'll get some pics up later to show the difference.

Pic from Medicdave or Hondo44?

I put a bisley grip frame on my single seven. Feels a lot better in my hand.

I have changed out many to Bisley...never bought a kit. Just found used hammer, trigger and gripframe. Easier that way too, used gripframes are already fitted and they, for the most part, match any frame. Some may need a very little touch up, but that is all.

This 44 special flattop is my conversion...as they did not make the Bisley 44 special in stainless.
