does anybody have a .540X36 TPI die (S&W K Frame size) they are willing to lend a guy?

Victor will make about any tap you need and their prices are very good. Didn't see that one listed in a quick look but they do customs if they don't stock it.

Fire up your lathe and practice a bit. It shouldn't but a few hours to hone your single point thread cutting skills and you'll never regret learning to do it.

I have a 1942 Logan 24" that is good for diameters, but I'm not sure the manual change gears will even allow 36 pitch. I have seen the Brownell's die, and know I can get a die holder that would chuck in a Morris on the dead center for about $20. I had thought to turn to diameter, set the barrel up in the 3 jaw, and just turn the threads by spinning the plate manually. Just asking for a loaner to reduce the cost. The Brownells die is about 75 bux, and I might use it twice. maybe i'll try the S&W forum.
