I just bought used Liberty Fredom Safe for a great price. I have the combo and it works fine. The owner never used the key to lock the dial and lost it.

I know i can probably do some paperwork and transfer the ownership/warranty by doing some paperwork with Liberty. I could then get a key.

I see in Google searches that they typically used one key that is keyed alike for all the SG dials. I see the key is "SGR615" and can be bought on ebay. I have seen some info that previous years from 2005 and beyond, they used possible different codes. My safe was made in 2005.

Anyone have a liberty safe and would share their key number with me to see if "SGR615" is popular?

Would anybody be gracious enough to have a spare cut and mailed to me?

(Before some chime in about security...the key only locks the dial and does not allow the opening of the safe without knowing the combination.)

My liberty safe was made in 2005, and the key number is SGR615.

I would contact them transfer ownership if necessary and offer to purchase a key from them. The will probably send you one because their worth is less than $1.00

Contact them for the key and the warranty may be transferable to you.

Good to hear on the key numbers.
I see them on ebay for $10 a set.

I can transfer ownership with a bill of sale and the transfer form signed and notarized by the seller and buyer.

I may call them for details and see if they have any touch up paint as well.

this key concept eludes me. You're telling me every safe uses the same key to unlock the safe or is this key used for something else?

are we sure this key number just isn't the blank size code?

The key just locks the dial , you still need the correct combination to open the safe .

Gotcha. My locks are S&G digital or plain manual without a key. Thank you for the explanation.

the key was for a shop so they could close the door and bolt it and the dial would not get turned . that way not every employee would need to know the combination.

Kudos goes out to Liberty safe in my book!!!

i called about warranty and ownership transfer process and some other questions. The customer service tech verified that the previous owner never bothered to register his safe. Good for me as the tech said all I had to do was go online and simply register the safe with my info and not worry about the previous owner. I registered it online in two minutes using the price and date I bought this weekend, according to the instructions of the tech. Got my registration certificate emailed to me in mine and the wife's name, just in case something happens. Of course, it is already 11 years old, so the limited warranty on the pint and stuff has expired, but the lifetime of fire or theft damage is mine.

now on to a key!

Why even lock the dial. That is a sale promotion.

If someone can open the dial combo not knowing it they can get in the safe even quicker by other methods.
