My favorite load has been 29 gr IMR 3031 with a 180 gr RN, but finally ran out of 3031. I have lots of H4895 and some 4064. Any recommendations? I have 170 gr flat points and some 175 RN hard cast and 150 gr hard cast.

Because I do not know what bullets you are shooting and therefore have no measurements, I cannot create exact predictions with QL, however, with my data from the 311291 170gr boolit, 29gr. of H4895 will give a close approximation to 29gr IMR 3031 with 3031 having about 100fps greater velocity. Both loads average very close to 2000fps @30K pressure. I personally would not exceed 31gr of H4895 with the 175gr without checking for extraction issues.

My software says 32gr will exceed 42K pressure which is saami max. You should be reasonably safe with anywhere from 26 to 31 grs, but proceed at your own risk, I am issuing the standard disclaimer, I am not making a recommendation, because, you know, lawyers and stuff.

I use IMR 4895 in a bunch of stuff from .223 to .450Marlin.
Including 30-30. I don't have my load data right in front of me. It may be still packed away from the move. It is probably the most versatile rifle powder I have.
The only rifle I don't run it in is the 7mm magnum.
Everything I have shoots it really well. You will find a good load for it I'm sure.

Hodgdon has data for a wide range of jacketed and cast bullets using H4895 in the 30-30 Winchester.

+1 Buy several. I especially like Sierra, Speer and Hornady. They make good reading, they are informative, and they make life safer. Plus, you don't look like a noobe asking questions you should be able to answer yourself.

Don't know about Hodgdon. But all IMR rifle powders from SR 4759 thru 4831 can be used to charge 30WCF cartridges with a 170 gr bullet. So says my (1983) Dupont Handloaders Guide.

Although I have 3-4 cans of IMR 4895 on the shelf and a pound or so of 4064. I have yet found a reason to use any of it. I think both are mid range powders more appropriate for use in those 308 size of cases. Of which I have only two of. 243 -300 Savage.
But both my cartridges prefer a different powders than 4895 or 4064 for their best grouping accuracy.

I suppose the use of 4064 which is a bit faster burning than 4895 would garner better down range result's for your purpose.(30-30)
But there certainly is no harm in trying both so long as your stay under the Max Scaled Charges of: 34 grains (compressed) 4064__ and 31.5 for 4895. Both powders require (170gr) jacketed bullet use.
Be aware: these two powder charge listings were read from old 1980s literature supplied by there powder manufacture during that era.

Both powders require (170gr) jacketed bullet use.

I have yet to find a powder that requires the use of jacketed bullets, while published data for a given powder is quite often supplied for jacketed bullets, that is not to say that a cast bullet shooter cannot use that same powder, quite often at the same load levels. Surprisingly enough, those same powders can be used in a variety of different bullet weights as well.

that is not to say that a cast bullet shooter cannot use that same powder, very true.
Just saying: when telling another member its better to stay on point with what is published then comment one's own ideas instead. Especially when Max powder charges are involved.

thats adi 2206h
I fired a 2kg tin full of that through my 30-30.
With pp it worked a treat with 150-175 grns.
GC bullets worked fine to but I never really have got stuck into the GC thing.
The single action loads work o.k. as well 17.5 -21 grns with 165 cast.
You may get a bit of unburnt powder till powder kicks in depending on the gun , bullet hardness, diameter, seating depth etc kicks in and burns clean.

ADI AR2206H is equivalent to H or IMR 4895 or AA2460.
