Anyone know where I can find a .356, 115 grain, 4-6 cavity mold without a lube groove? Sent an email to NOE but never got a reply.

NOE only shows 135 grain fn for that type of boolit. You couls size down any of the ranch dog or lee tl boolits and get to about the same place.

I've got a 120 Lee mold but I can't figure out how to mill a standard lube mold down to eliminate lube groove and still make 115 weight? Besides I want a longer bearing surface for the rifling.

If you have a mill, just mill the top of the blocks until you reach the desired weight.
Or hollow point the bullet.

I understand that technique but it doesn't get rid of the lube groove which is my goal.

mihec makes some I think. I've got a 150grain with no lube groves from him and really like it.

Mill the lube groove away too, Yeah, very good chance of screwing it up unless you are real good.
I have a new CNC mill, the machine is capable, of doing that. This operator is not. Might try it on one of my molds. Sure as heck would not try on yours.

This sounds doable. I assume you are powder coating your boolits, so you will be adding diameter, giving you the option of sizing a bit smaller to wipe off the TL grooves. Still seems like a lot of work, but might get you by until you locate a mold. I'm sure Accurate Molds could cut you whatever you need.

Boring out the lube groove is relatively simple with a mill and the right tools. I've even done it with a drill press and reamer with good results; the rear driving band serves to pilot the reamer so concentricity is retained. That 120TC has plenty of driving band area, so there's room to mill the base down to the weight you want once the lube groove is gone.

Or hollow point it, as suggested above. I did both with that mold (but didn't bother with the lube groove since it didn't matter to me); I ended up with a 105gr hollow point that shoots really well and can be pushed pretty fast. It shoots well enough that I haven't felt the need to go back and remove the lube groove, even though I'm powder coating them.

Why not just have Accurate make one for you, just like you want it? Why make a science project out of it when you can have it in short order?
