Working up some loads and needed a quick brass catcher so I knew what brass was fired from each round.

Lucky for me, I had to clean the pool earlier and that gave me an idea. A few 1/8" straps, and a section of tubing and two bolts and I was ready to go.

Innovative. I like it.

So does the Chrony read tilt when it is used at that angle?:kidding:

It won't work if the sun is directly on the sensors so it's just tilted away from the fiery ball.

Looks like a great innovation for free :D. I hate chasing brass all over the place.

Been usin' one similar for several years now. Does catch if you get it positioned correctly. I have to add several 5# weights slipped over the shaft of the separate tripod stand I have it on due to wind problems.

The rectangular bag net ones are the best. The standard round ones are just too hard to "hit".

You know these guys? http://www.elmfg.com/

Not as universal as a net but they are slick, not expensive, and Made in the USA.

I have several of them and they work quite well if you have the right optic mounts. Not the best off/on but solid catchers for sure and mine have lasted for years.

The AR ones are nice but I use the SMG ones more than the AR ones as a lot of my mounts won't work with them.

I have also modified the Velcro style to mount on a short section of rail. QD attachment and a zipper on the bottom to empty as well. They also don't make the rifle physically as wide as the kydex ones do.

i was just working up loads starting low and adjusting the powder charge pretty much for each round until I reached the target velocity. I just wanted to quickly take a look at each case after being fired. Not the best method for every situation, just worked best that day.

Hi guys, just a suggestion on the chrony, use a piece of hobby board, heavy poster board, lay it across the rods, works great all but eliminates error readings in bright sun

Years ago I used that one at night like this.

I have always thought a bonnet of white translucent plastic, like corrugated roof section would be a good replacement for the screens, just never got around to setting it up.

One of those coroplast campaign signs would work well.

Made from a plastic corrugated sign board…now the sun can't spoil the reading no matter what angle it is.

That looks like the ticket. When ever I see a cloudy day I think about, if I have anything that needs to be chronographed. Don't need a thing on those days.
