Lee C430-310-RF cast in 50/50+2% with Felix lube.

I found this to be the best of all the .44 boolits I tried in my trusty old 7 1/2" SBH and is the only load I shoot in it these days. Rear sight wouldn't go down far enough so I sighted it in with a belt sander..

I cast with 50/50+5%, is felix lube the half beeswax, half molybdenum grease recipe?

The half beeswax, half Moly is Glen's lube.
I will try it in the next go around now that I am out of Felix and have a bit of NRA 50:50 to shoot up.

Then a batch of Glen's lube and a batch of Ben's Red

I hope it is going to be my new NOE 432-277-SWC Keith. Haven't shot any yet. I have the Lee C430-310-RF ,
The Lyman 429421, The NOE 432-290-FN 432640 and the RCBS #44-250-K 44 Caliber .430 250 Grain Keith Type . I've probably shot more of the RCBS 250 Keith than any of them as I have had it the longest. It always got the job done in my pistols. ( Black Hawks and Contenders),It did not do as well in the rifles that I have had.
I'm hoping the NOE Molds will work better with my Grandsons Handi Rifle.

rcbs 240 swcgc for up to deer. ballistic cast 300 lfngc for the bigger stuff. Ballistic cast 340 lfngc for when I don't want to take a linebaugh.

I cast with 50/50+5%,

Adding 5% tin negates the point of mixing 50/50 to start with.

Add 2%, at most. 1% is plenty.

Favorite .44 mag hunting boolit? I have used so many successfully down thru the years, it would be hard to single out a favorite!
The design I have found to be the most accurate in a wide range of my revolvers has been Lyman's 429421. I have shot many 5 shot groups that measured less than 1"@25 yds with this boolit and I have never had it fail on a deer with proper shot placement.
Another design that I have found to be really accurate in both revolvers and my lever action rifles, and which has also been effective on deer, is a Lee 310g mould that has been scalped to drop a 270g plain based boolt.
These are just two designs that I have used successfully on deer, but others are: Lyman's 429640HP, Saeco 441, RCBS 250K, MP-432-256 and a Lee custom 44-225RNFP.

c.latch, the reason for 5% tin is for malleability,i cast them and let them cool slowly in sawdust, when testing with wet phonebooks and jugs of water, I get amazing penetration and just enough expansion, I'd say about 65 caliber, not really a full mushroom but enough to cause good cavitation. please explain in more detail why it is a waste, I would be interested to know, tin isn't cheap and I don't want to waste any. thank you, Travis

That much tin is actually making your bullets very slightly harder than if you only used, say, 2%.

Less tin would still give you a tiny bit of expansion, maybe more than you get now.

i'm going old skool, but i think a 250gr mihek hp(40:1) and unique(900-1000fps) will take a deer down out to 50 yards.
