My Son was over today and we did a few little things. A few around the house projects. He also pulled some 38-55 cases from the polisher for me. I dug out a piece of 1" X 6" hard maple. The piece was enough for 2 8 1/2" long pieces. I found center and laid a center line down center then 3/4" eac way until 1/2 Border was left. I then layed out a square line 1/2" from bottom and 10 holes 3/4" up this left enough room for 1 hole on center and 3/4" above pattern. Ebded up with 2 loading blocks from maple 70 holes with one extra hole to hold the starting case. He drilled the holes .450 deep 1/2" dia for the 30-30 38-55 sized case heads. Lightly chamfered edges then sanded with 220 grit. I will work first coat of oil finish into them this evening, in the morning sand with 320 and another coat of finish. Look good and with the extra hole will allow easy movement of cases in the block when working them.

Good work! They sound almost too pretty to use.

I have to get the finish worked in yet before they are ready for pictures LOL. But unlike my bigger blocks for 40 and 45 cal rifle rounds the 38-55s dont fall over and out. LOL With a bullet handseated they just rolled out onto the bench... Im happy with them they are working great.

Two suggestions. I route a cove on the bottom edge so I have an easy grip to pick them up. I also use 3M 777 spray to stick some of the stuff you put under a rug on the bottom so they don't slide. It's the same stuff you use to hold work for routing but it's cheaper from the carpet store!
