Forgive me if this isn't the proper section of the forum to post this in, but I am new to casting and was hoping I could find someone close by that I could learn from.

I am located fairly centrally, directly between Dallas and Houston. Would appreciate the help. Thanks.

In other words, in Centerville?

Buffalo. I have found saying Buffalo makes people think I am in New York though.

This is Texas... We have a Paris... We have a Moscow... And plenty of others... :)

There's a few of us down in the Houston / Gulf area and a few up in the Dallas area. I don't know anyone in between though.

You might want to list your location in your profile.

Down in Cypress (the town not the island) so not much help here.

Have you considered moving? ;) either north or south but don't cross state lines.

I don't mind driving a little ways for the opportunity to learn something. The north of side of Houston isn't too tough to get to. If any of you guys are getting ready to do something soon and wouldn't mind showing me how to do it, then let me know.

I know we got more Texas members than this.
heck we got more members in my little town [2400] here in Idaho than this.

Mexia isn't that far from you. There's the HOTSA silhouette club there that likely has members in your area.

I pass through Buffalo twice a week, live in Ft worth work in Galveston. Cast fairly regularly, refine range scrap and drop bullets twice a month during time off in Galveston county(did around 2k 150gr .358s and 300 501-440s last night). What are you looking to learn? Want an equipment familiarization or advice? passing through tomorrow(and every Thurs) and could meet for lunch....

Good to see someone able to help here. I was in the same situation when I first started casting, eventually sorted things out, but a little help really went a long way.

I pass thru Buffalo now and then, even stopped for gas and a bottle of booze once. If you get up north hang a left about the time you smell OK, lol. Do you have any equipment yet or would you like to see how it works first?

I have read a lot on the internet, on this site and others. Was just wanting to see it in person to put reality to the reading.

I haven't gotten anything yet really. Was wanting to see it first. If after seeing it I was still confident I would then start acquiring equipment.

I'm down in houston if you feel like driving over. I'm still pretty new so I don't have a complicated setup. Self taught about a year ago; just jump in! Worse thing that happens is you melt down what you made and try again.

I'd help if I weren't stuck in Washington

I'm in Cypress off 290 (Cypress is a bit up the road from Houston). If you decide to make the trek I'll be glad to give you the nickel tour.
Have RCBS pro-melt as well as Lee 20 lb pot. Can use both to give you a feel of each
Run both a PID and casting thermometer in the pots (one each in them)
can see Lyman 4500 sizer/luber in action as well as Lee push through sizer and adapter that turns 4500 into push through sizer. Push throughs are great for sizing powder coated, PC, bullets
We can PC some bullets if you wish--use tumble coating in #5 containers with airsoft BBs and bake in toaster oven.
cast .32, .32-20, .38/.357, 9mm, .40 (even though don't have a .40 firearm--long story), .45 Colt, .45 ACP, .45-70 or some of each.
If you take up bstone5 and my offers you could make a weekend of it. I'm retired so Sunday a.m. is about only time I've got commitments--church.

Hey Keechi, like you I am in the learning stage......still gathering the supplies required but have not begun the process yet. Like the "Welding for Artists" (taught in the Industrial Arts classes) offered by most community colleges, it would be nice to see a similar program for casters......:castmine:
