I shot my best 5 shot offhand centerfire group ever today.

167794

Less than 2 inches at 25 yards, offhand. I am usually happy with groups that size off a bench rest.

167795

This is more typical of my offhand shooting, I was shooting 10 shot groups or really 10 shot slowfire targets, this one I scored as a 92. Most of my targets today were about 90. I stopped the other target after the first cylinder because I would have hated to spoil the group. Sorry for the ratty targets, I wasn't thinking I would be taking pictures. I pull targets out of the trash and paste them up with target dots to make more use out of them.

The bullets are a soft alloy from and old roundnose Ideal mould. The weigh 86ish grains lubed with 50/50 on top of 3.6 grains of Green Dot.

Gun is a Dan Wesson mod. 15 with my own custom .308 groove dia. barrel and a replacement 32-20 cylinder. 8 inch barrel and a 2.5 power scope. It will shoot under one inch groups at 25 yards off a bench rest.

Congrats.

I need to work on my offhand shooting.

Even with lots of practice, I doubt I will be posting a 2" at 25 yds target pics.

My off-hand shooting has deteriorated. 60 year old eyes and all. Two handed hold is still pretty good.
I practice off-hand with the rifle every range day.

nicely done.

age, shoulder surgeries and eyesight means I will never see that with my revolvers

Nice shooting DT, especially off hand with a revolver.

Other than the scope being off, this is three shots at 96 yards all touching,

Great groups. Off hand shooting can be difficult at best sometimes.

Very impressive! Not all respect the skill it takes to score when your at 75'
Last week I shot a 59, I had a little gremlin sitting on my shoulder saying; Jerk that trigger Randy and I did.
I'm shooting a 45 acp with a red dot

Other than the scope being off, this is three shots at 96 yards all touching,
167820This is very similar to my unrivalled one shot groups. I only count them if they hit the target though.

My best groups looked like that at 15 yards when we still had pistols .goodshooting

Thanks all for the nice words. It is nice to be able to brag to a large audience than just my buddies at the range.

Nicely done indeed. Sounds like one sweet revolver.
I'm pretty tickled when my carry guns do that at 10 yds...and there's usually not anyone there to see it, lol. When my shooting buddy is there I'll do it lefty just to mess with him. ;-) I'll drag out a PPC revolver (or better yet, my Distinguished gun) and blow his mind someday. Most folks don't know what a good revolver is capable of in the right hands....sometimes even the other hand, lol.

Around 1980, brand new 4 inch Model 29 Smith. 23 grains 296 with 250 grain Keith off hand at 25 yards went 3/4 inch five shots. Handed it to my friend who was shooting 10 grains of Unique same bullet and he shot a 1 inch group. Being 36 years younger and shooting almost every day makes a difference. Youth is definitely wasted on the young.
