that I can buy a 9MM Lee TC (124Gr?) which is a nominal .356 and have it throw boolits at .359 or larger? I bought a new Taurus pistol and the barrel slugs .3585, I will pour from ACWW.

Unlikely it will throw that large. You can lament to make bigger but why not just get a small grain 38 cal mould? It might throw that big.

I bet you could get it to cast that large without too much work. I got a mold from a user here who placed some aluminum tape (or something that looked like it) inside the mold to increase the diameter of the boolits. they still drop great with no fins, and that seems like a pretty simple solution.

You're most likely right but I wanted to be "whiney" I guess. I can beagle or go to a light 38 mould.

the rcbs 120 round nose will probably cast that big. Ive got the 115 and the 120 and they do.

You need a 358 mold. The Lee 358-105-SWC is reported by all who've used it here to be a great shooter. It will load to over 1400 fps in a 9X19 which should wreck havoc on any critter under 200 lbs. If you want it to penetrate heat treat them to BHN 18 or above.

I've the Lee 358-125-RNFP cowboy bullet. Haven't shot in in a 9 but I tried pushing one into a 9X19mm case. Looked good to me. Sized down to .356 it sized slightly above the crimp grove. Touched the rifling in my S&W at an O.L. Of 1.02”. magazine length rounds on that pistol is 1.10”. Hornady book recommends their 124gr fmjfp to load at 1.04” so I'd say all is ideal. The crimp grove is well down into the case. I'd happily send you a hundred of those 125-rnfp sized at .358 to try out in your Taurus. They drop from the mould at around .3587” with 760 degree alloy. They're a BHN #15 alloy so they should obdurate with a full power load. They have a nice sized flat point of .240” and drop at 129 grains with Lyman #2 alloy.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't function through the pistol just like any other round nose.
Plus with that relatively wide meplat they should hit with a nice smack. :Fire:

Gabby, I thank you very much for the offer, I'd like to take you up on it but I don't want to put you out so thank-you but no. I will try out your advice.:)

I just got a TL356-124-TC, and the boolits I cast a few nights ago measure .357" across the top band and .360" across the base band. Interesting that they're tapered like that. Wonder if it's by design? Must be, because I pulled a bunch randomly out of the pile and got those measurements. I intend to use them in .38 Special (with 125 grain jacketed data) as well as in the 9mm.

I haven't yet slugged my Taurus 9mm, but they're going through it regardless.

Interestingly, I did just slug my 1953 Colt Official Police .38 Special, with 6 squib boolits that stuck in the bore and had to be driven out. (Great way to slug!) They all measure .355".

Rick, that's why my Colt officer's model got a P. O. Ackley barrel (way back when). I thought It should have a .357" barrel. Back then (mid 70s), and I don't know for how long before and after seemed like all Colts had .355 dia. barrels.

I have that mold.
It comes out at, .358.5. I size it to .358 for my 9mm. I have yet to try it out, but there is no case bulging with it. It also chambers nicely.
It makes a decent bullet.
