:castmine:
Made my 4th attempt at casting boolits today. Temps in the upper 60's, south wind at 10 + mph. Using range scrap at 14.4 BHN, Saeco # 24 pot, Lee 379-250 single cavity. Learned quite a few things.
Need a wind screen to block wind from pot.
Make sure pot is clean before putting ingots in the pot.
One can get the mould too hot. :???:
When there are tails hanging from the pour spout, run some lead before filling mould. (prevents ugly wrinkled noses)
Make sure the gloves one is wearing do not have holes. OUCH
Cast 96 and 28 are keepers.
Measured and weighed the keepers; diameter on the base band was .380" to .3807". Weights of 10 randomly selected boolits; 7 were 259.5 gr. 3 were 259.0 gr.
The bases;
