From what I understand the main difference is the expander plug.

Does anyone know if the cowboy expander plug is the same thread size and fits a normal RCBS expander body?

Yup. Just tried it - they are interchangeable.

The seater die bullet guide diameter is also larger on the Cowboy dies that I own. If you use a really fat bullet in standard dies it might not fit the seater die. You get a whopping extra .002 or so in the Cowboy seater.

You can get custom expander plugs for the Lee expander die at Track of the Wolf and custom expander plugs for several different dies at Buffalo Arms.
