View Full Version : Howa Mini Action
I handled a Howa Mini Action rifle today. Seemed like a decent rifle that would be a handy gun to have. However I was underwhelmed by the clip release. It seemed like a rinky dink affair. Can anyone comment on the durability of these?

"American Hunter" did a review of the rifle,

It sounds interesting, might make a good base for a project I have in mind.

Interesting. I see howa is now chambering it for the 6.5 grendel, which is almost exactly 1/4" shorter than the .35 remington. I suspect with a little work the .35 remington could fit in there.

Is this just a super short version of the full sized action or is it a scaled down action like the Zastava Mini Mauser is to the standard Mauser action?

35 Remington is probably a stretch unless using a very stubby projectile.

but a 358 Gremlin aka .35x39mm imp. would fit nicely !
If they did away with awful looking bottom metal/magazine I'd have one in 6.5 grendel !

I will get one in 6.5 Grendel and probably 7.62x39 too.

I am tempted, but the magazine is plastic and a new one is $55.
