I found a swing away mount and adapted it to fit the carcano. Works great. I only have to swing it away to load the en bloc clips. The bolt functions fine with scope down. The scope is Nikon 3-9x40 BDC. Correction..the gun is a M41 made in 42 (1942).

Good for you. Many years ago I knew an apprentice that befuddled his mentor buy scoping a Carcano and getting 1 3/4" groups at 100yds. rested , ammo was jacketed , can't remember if it was mil-surp or Norma ?

Perhaps you were the apprentice..or were you the mentor?

I like that stock on that rifle. Not to say the older rifles dont look good with the original furniture. But, that stock makes it look like it will be a work horse for another 100 years. Where did you get it? Only reason I wouldn't put a new stock on a mil-surp rifle is of it had historical value.

That is the original military stock. It was cut short by a previous owner. I sanded it down and used a swirl painting technique used often for guitars. I like the way it turned out. The barrel and stock were both cut so this gun had no historical value.

Looks good though.

That is a cool idea - and would work well with Mosin as well I'd bet
is that a Pachmayer Swing-Lo Scope Mount?

It is a Pachmayer Swing-Lo Scope Mount. They don't make them anymore as I understand it. I got it on Ebay.

That is a great idea for a scope mount on a Carcano. Yours is much more nifty than my solution. Many years ago I got a scope mount on my Carcano carbine. But it is fixed and cannot be pivoted to the side like yours. It is a Weaver Side mount scope. But it does work good. I had to put a scope on the carbine as the iron sights were pretty much useless for hunting or shooting at targets. The sights appeared to have been regulated for 300 meters for shooting at man sized targets. when I first tried shooting it, it tossed the bullets way way high at less than 100 meters. so high that the bullets missed the target completely and confused the heck out me as to where the bullets were going. The little carbine was just so hugely convenient in size and handy. I used to place it in a gun rack in my pickup truck at the time. I don't think that the Ruger Mini-14 had come out yet.

I like your mount as well. It gets the job done as the iron sights shoot way too high. Thanks for sharing.

scope mount looks great and remember those carcano triggers cleaned up will rival the best of mil surps out there.

I have a 91/41 sometimes called a M41, never heard of a M42, gain twist?

I corrected the first post. It is a M41 made in 42. Not a gain twist.
