Just bought one at Academy for $179 never shot a 7mm08 before how are they?well went to the range with some 140 gr RP factory ammo not to bad the wind got up as a storm is coming to 40 mph but did manage 3 shots in a ragged hole at 25 but really cannot do justice till I get a nice day. Now I need a mold and a set of dies. O well wait till later

Only reason I shot factory is I just had to shoot it [smilie=l: Have a mold and dies on the way so the 20 rds is all it will ever shoot

I've only used GI 7.62 brass necked down. One run through a full length sizer makes 7mm-08 brass.

I have the CVA Hunter in 35 Remington and I love it. Factory Hornady shoots ragged holes at 50 yards. I'm still putting together cast loads myself.

Great caliber. I have an TC Encore. Good we are reloaders, brass and factory ammo can be tough to find for it. I appreciate the stopping power without all the recoil of the magnums.

I had to step down this year from the 7mm Rem Mag to the 7mm-08 for my Encore. The spine in my neck is not getting any better!
Had the first new T/C barrel replaced due to a groove in the chamber right at the base of the shoulder. Sheared off a little ring of brass when the action was opened. Haven't shot the new barrel yet but hope to this weekend maybe.
The 2 shots I fired in the first barrel with Nosler 120gr factory loads were mild.

CVA makes great guns, they also have a great recoil pads on their rifles. My 45-70 didn't like pb bullets, but I imagine that you will be shooting gc's in your 7mm08
