After years of argueing with myself I finally broke down and traded into a brand spankin new Marlin 1894c .357. During the obligatory first stripping and fondeling session I noticed that the bottom of the bolt sticks past the reciever about a 1/16 of an inch. Everything locks up good and cycles fine but it is bothersome from an asthetic prespective.

Any one else have a Marlin bolt with fit issues?

Yes on both of mine they stick out just a hair. But when the rifle is in lock up and the hammer is down push on the hammer and they will be almost if not all the way even with the receiver. So I think of which I am not sure but it may be part of a safty item of the rifle so the fire pin does not contact the primer when you cycle the rifle.

I have a 1894CB in 45colt with 24"bl that is that way. I wondered about because none of my older ones are like that.
