I don't not have faith that he can be healed, but if it's his time, I'll also be praying for an easy passing and for the family as well. It's tough when the really good ones face things like this, but I guess that's what friends are for, isn't it? They're doing some really amazing things with chemo and other treatments now, and I'll be praying for a total healing. It really DOES happen, and today more than ever before. May God and his doctors work together to heal this good man, and thanks for letting us know.

I sat with Billy for an hour today. He said he has had a talk with the 'Man upstairs' and is ready for whatever is God's Will. He is doing a 'last ditch' procedure starting tomorrow with ( I think) one of the top ten cancer doctors in the USA.

He has more courage in his little finger than I in my entire body.

An insight for you to understand. 20 Years ago Billy and I went shooting at my old place and my old dog 'Puppy' came running up. ( The guy who bought the place insisted she stay as it was her home.)
She was old and you could look at her and know her days were numbered.

I hugged that Faithful old dog and said, "Well done Good and Faithful Servant."

Billy looked at me and said... "I hope God says that to me someday...."

That's the kind of guy Billy is...

I have so many good friends who have or have fallen to cancer. Thankfully as believers they are now with the Lord and the earthly fight is over for them. We who believe that way know that our saved loved ones are better off, but it is still hard to watch them suffer and have to leave us before we are ready for them to go. I also have several good friends who are now cancer free as the Lord has healed them perhaps by a miracle or He has worked through the medical community.
Lord I ask that you work in behalf of Billy and that you as the Great Physician restore him to full health and strength. Amen.

Billy has had 2 treatments and says he can't tell any difference - good or bad. The fact that it is not making him sick gives me hope but Billy doesn't share that....

Dale, if he "can't tell the difference," that's not unusual. Sometimes the Lord doesn't come in a blinding flash of revelation, but quietly and gently, and this is often the case with what he's facing. We'll keep praying for him for as long as he needs them, and it really makes a difference. Docs and science haven't been able to explain it, but they've proven it's true. This again, isn't one of those "one and done" situations, but we here will keep Billy in our prayers for as long as he needs them.

A short update...Billy is not taking the treatments well. He is thinking of stopping them as the doctor thought they would only prolong his life a few months and take the pain away.

Thanks for the continuing updates, castalot. Docs are very good today, and based on their finite training, they are able to predict a lot of things very well and with increasing consistency. What we're praying for is a miracle. God grants them still, but of course, not in every case. If there's some reason He has for letting this be Billy's time, then that's how it'll be, but God always listens. He just has His reasons and we are not and can't be aware of all the reasons He has for what he does and allows to be done. So I'll continue praying for a miracle for Billy. It seems obvious that this is simply what he needs, based on what the docs have told us. But miracles do indeed still happen. They're just not the most regular thing in our world. I suspect if our Faith were stronger, there'd be more of them. I remember that verse, "O ye of little faith." But let us now simply pray for a real and honest miracle for Billy, so that his healing might open the eyes and hearts of those around him. As Yogi Berra said, "It ain't over 'till it's over," and it's not over yet. And might not be for quite a while. But we simply have to ask for that.

You know, for many years now, I've thought that the hardest part of having truly great folks in our lives, is when we lose them. Instead of being thankful for them, we usually just react to that big hole they leave in us when they cross over, and just want them back. There's no way we can really not do that, of course, but it's helped me to realize how precious their lives were to me, and to simply be grateful that I ever had them at all. So many in this world never really have any great people in their lives. Truly, we're awfully lucky to have so many really good and great ones in ours. We've been so richly blessed. It's just hard to go forth wihtout them, but his family and friends will do it anyway, even though it's hard, because that's how Billy would have wanted them to. I've seen this realization make a huge difference in many people's lives when they lose a really great one. Prayers continue for the family and friends, with emphasis on Rhonda.
