Dillon recommends do not clean pistol brass too much because the progressive press bell funnel sticks and drags on clean case mouths/I like a little mica dust in a plastic bag filled with brass shake til a little mica is in the mouths/this is the exact same stuff you put inside rifle necks before size/any mica outside the case also lightens the press stroke a bit/mica does not foul powder so I use ballistic products mica dust wad slick/I roll the tiny amount of mica off the loaded brass in a towel shines like new

ABSOLUTELY NOT~~ DE is actually teeny aquatic (diatoms) creature carcasses used for it's abrasive and filtering charastics. Mica dust is just that........extremely fine ground dust of the mineral mica.

NOT interchangeable!!!!

Mica does lubricate......DE is abrasive.

DE is used in some older swimming pool filters. It works great for scorpion control! The stuff gets into their exoskeletons and chews them apart! Sprinkle it around your foundations and walls outside. Natural pest control.

Toothpaste contains diatoms for it's abrasive cleaning.

Take a small pill bottle, (like an old aspirin or small prescription bottle) and put an inch or so of bird shot in the pill bottle.

Then fortify the bird shot in that bottle with a small spoonful of motor mica. You can use graphite as well in a pinch, if you don't mind the mess that graphite makes.

Lightly agitate the bottle before use to mix the shot and dry lubricant. Dip case mouths into the bottle to lube inside the neck/mouth.

I do this to inside lube the neck of bottle neck cartridges, when I have to use an expander ball/spud.

It's an easy, and not so messy way to lube case mouths and necks.
