166377 LEE C312-185-1R GC'd and sized .314, tumble-lubed 10% cut LLA on 2.2 cc. LEE dippered (27.8 grs.) IMR 4198, CCI 200 LR primer in neck-sized PPU brass, scope set at 9x..........zeroed on the 200m steel chickens and they all fell down when I did my part from the bench and bags. The poor little No.4 Mk.1 is a 'rescued pre-bubba'd' with a like-new bore I had cut to 18" and braked, stocked ATI. (The work was done by our new member here, Someothername, who designs and builds brakes that WORK.) The brake makes it all-day shootable, especially with that load and the mousefart 5.0 Red Dot with the LEE 113 gr. RF. Fun was had, experience was gained, spectators were amazed..........and maybe we'll have some new casters. Absolutely NO sign of any leading whatsoever. Yeah, the cuff shows I'm a lefty.

Nice rifle, some thing about those Lee 185 with 4198. Once dialed and trialed it is a good combo, or one of the best!
Two groove or other?
Be well

166400Leebuilder, it's a 5 groove. At some point in its life it had lain in water for a time: the left side was 'marbled'. The butt wood is quite nice, the bubba'd forend was retrievable after some work. The sights were completely ratched and the muzzle had been cut back an inch or so. It looked like this for a while..........

Nifty Habcan, looks like an old "Bomber" rifle. Have one very similar and is deadly with 185gr Lee's, and 4198. I trimmed mine to 20 inches and took the peep sights off and put on a v notch rear sight on the barrel. It had stock issues too, I just put textured paint on it. Still use it hunting when it is to dirty for a scope. You can beat those heavier 5 groove barrels in the No4.
Be well!
