Hey everyone, I was wondering if you guys could tell me the difference between a pre and post 64 on the barrel bands? I am wanting one of the rear bands with the sling swivel stud to use on occasion but can only find the rear (post) 64 bands in stock, I dont really care if it is stamped steel, just if it will fit correctly? Or if they changed the dimensions and location on the post 64 bands, both front and rear bands?, did stock dimensions change as well?

OK-- I just pulled out my 1949 Winchester 1894 (32 Winchester Special) and my 1968 Winchester 1894 (30-30) and measured all the dimensions I could think of on the rear barrel bands. I also looked at the screw heads and screw locations. I cannot find anything different between the two. The wood is not the same, but the bands appear to be identical.

Thank you very much hick, I know there was a rear band with a tapered screw, but it doesnt seem common, I dont see why a late model pre-64 and an post 64 band would be much different (outside of maybe stamped vs machined) but if the dimensions work Im happy. Do you know if the front band was similar too?

Front bands also appear to be identical. However, it occurs to me that we have not talked about caliber. My two are 30-30 and 32 WS-- which both use the same case, which means the magazine tubes are the same diameter. I've never looked at a big bore Model 1894 (maybe they're different??), and you didn't way what yours is.

Oh mine is just a typical 30-30 pre 64. Thats good to know on the bands though. Ill order a set to test out if i can find them.

OK-- we're both working with the same size magazine tubes-- so it should all fit. Let me know how it all comes out
