I've got a pre safety Marlin 1894c (.357) that I usually load light loads for. .38spl loads in .357 cases essentially. I've had some pretty good groups with 125gr TCBB cast over HP38. Just wondering, for any of you who've loaded for this rifle, what has been your most accurate load with cast bullets?

Thanks in advance!

NOE 360-180 wfn gas check with lil gun sized to 0.3605

Water dropped will work.

I use one of the Larson design C358-180-RF Lee group buy boolits and run them through a .360 sizer with White Label Carnauba Red.

12.5 grains Alliant 2400, Federal case, CCI 500 primer.
High - 1,568 fps
Low - 1,511 fps
Average- 1,544 fps
SD- 20 fps
Kinetic Energy- 953 ft/lbs
10 shot group- 2.6 inches at 50 yards. Iron sights and 57 year old eyes. I'm sure a scope would tighten that a bit.

BTW, Djones' 14.5 grains of Lil' Gun and my Lee boolit get 1,732 fps average with a 13 fps SD from my rifle. The NOE and Larson boolits are very similar.

I don't think there's a nickels difference in performance with any of the various 180 grain WFN designs.

Started using 358156 over 15 gr. of H-110 in the first one I bought in 1978, still do. Works for gophers, badgers and deer.

used my above lid on this dude a few years ago. Iron sights and very far under 200 yards but it was a long shot! Definitely a confidence booster

Anyone try the Ranch Dog 358-175? Its suppose to be great in the 1894c (built for it apparently). I'd like to get a hold of a mold to try it out.

I've had great luck with that bullet. It is accurate and I've killed a bunch of deer with it stoked with a 1 gr below max load of Lil Gun.
