Well, I finally took the plunge and purchased a Smith and Wesson 500, with the 8 3/8" barrel. I've been scrimping and saving for awhile now, and convinced my wife it was time. Should be in sometime next week. Now time to start looking up load data for that beast.

The only way I can justify feeding this handcannon is by casting. I've got a MiHec 502-385 HP mold, any other molds I should be on the lookout for for this bad boy?

Let me know if you need loading stuff. I have cases, the Lee mold, sizer, dies and gas checks. I also have some jacketed bullets. I got rid of my 500.

Definitely try the 440 grn Lee mold super accurate in my 500! I just got that 385 mihec mold haven't had time to try it out yet. Load up on H110 or 296 your going to need it. Congrats on the new purchase!

You can use the Lee 50 cal muzzle loader boolits. I like the modern improved mini over 6 or 7 grains of unique or whatever fast pistol powder you have. It is essesently a 365 grain hollow base wad cutter. I don't think they will hang up in your barrel cause I shoot them out of my handyrifle. Low noise, low recoil and hit pretty hard.

I'll definitely pick up the Lee mold as well! I think I have a couple pounds of 110, but I'm sure I'll need more. That's the only powder I've consistently heard used for it. That and of course Unique. But since I use 110 for the 454, I think I want a backup powder, or just to buy more
