I was at Birch Run with the spouse and took the long way home.
Stopped at the Williams Gunsight in Davidson and scored 2lbs of WW 231 and some AA 1680.
I think I am good for a while.
The quest is over.

Leadmelter....way back when, as the 'panic' started, I found a guy looking for 55g FMJs to feed an AR. I had a boat load...and he had 231. I scored 4lbs. at a great bargain, didn't think much of it. Haven't seen it since.... :(

Encouraging news. I've seen a few scarce powders as of late but sure wish I could score some 2400.

I think Recobs has some in stock now...they got a big run of Alliant in ...I got Bullseye today and think there was some 2400 in stock...good luck...they show 1# and 8# of 2400 as of Tuesday night at 7pm pacific time

I just got 16lbs of hp38 delivered yesterday.
My days of using whatever I could find that would safely go bang in a handgun are over for now.
Time to start working up some win231/hp38 loads for 380/9mm/380, while using up everything else I have in 45.
I basically started reloading during the shortage, and don't want to go thru it again, so if I like hp38 as much as I think I will, I will order a few more 8lbers next time around.
I want at least a 3yr supply, if not more.
Now I just need more brass, lead and primers.
And time.

I was down to about an inch of WW231 in my last 1# bottle and had been hoarding it carefully for my .32 S & W Long loads. Hit Gamaliel's site last week and they had stock at $22.95 a pound. Quickly enriched my stock by 3 pounds along with some WW209 primers to make the haz mat go down easy. God is indeed watching over me./beagle

I can find pretty much any powder I want except alliant powders.

Hopefully the powder drought is coming to an end. I picked up several pounds of HP38 (ersatz 231) for a surprisingly good price last month at the Centralia Gun Show.

I'm still looking for 2400, although I did pick up a caddy of Bullseye recently.

Was at the Tulsa show, had just about all the powders. Ended up with 2400, 231, clays and Blue dot.

Leadmelter, what do you think about the new store and inventory that Williams put a bunch of money into over the last few years? I`m about 40 miles from there - as the crow flies -, they usually have something I can use.Robert

During the "shortage" I checked the Powder Valley site three or four times a day for many months. They had some 231 come in, show up on their web site, and I bought a case of 8 lber's once, and a case of 4lber's later. You have to buy it when it is there, and don't think about it. Do it immediately.
I split the 231 with a fellow machine gun shooter. I am all set for many years to come. It is the one powder I use for 380, 38/357 (light 357 loads), 44 (light loads) 9mm and 45. A pound goes a looooooooooooooong way!
I have learned that when components are available, and at a reasonable price, buy all you will use in a lifetime. Bullets, powder, primers, brass, lead, etc. It doesn't go bad. I actually have it in my will that I leave the components to my kids.
I'm afraid they will need it.

Hey Leadmelter next time take the really long way home and swing by Jays in Clare. I picked 8 pounds of 231 there about 3 weeks ago for $150 plus tax. I did not really need it just getting ready for four years of Hillary.

MI Guys
That was my first visit to Williams and it is a very nice facility. I live South of there so it is about an hour one way.
I have been to Jay's on my Northern trips. Great Place for sure. My BSA troop did summer camp there for a few years.
The Tricounty area of SE MI is a real abysiss of reloading supplies.
Bullet casting ? What is that?
I do most of my shopping online and save gas. But when I am out and see a place I stop and look but rarely buy because everything if for the AR or Glock

Just after the first of the year I bought an 8# jug of 231 for $150. Not long before that I got an 8 pounder of Bullseye for the same price. Accurate powders are what I can't find.
