I have read all of the threads and other internet hoopla concerning whether to shoot lead bullets in a Glock or not. I have decided to purchase a replacement barrel and not worry about it. The question is which replacement barrel is the best all around buy for this purpose. I have seen replacement barrels from $100.00 to $300.00. Which one is the best?

I had great luck with a Bar-Sto drop-in in a Glock 17. It shot too accuratly , better than my Gold Cup.

no personal experience, but a friend 'kaboomed' his .40 Glock and
replaced it with Bar-Sto and has been pleased with the results with
cast boolits since then.

A single data point.

I've had great results with Storm lake, very accurate and well made. I've soem freinds that use thier 1911 barrels. On my glock 35 it dropped right in. I also got a 9mm barrel . Try Top Glock, they have them both for under 100$. I've noticed in both calibers better accuracy then the factory barrels.

Another vote for the Storm Lake barrel. Bought one for my GLOCK 34. It dropped right in and is a good fit. Accuracy wise, it is as good if not better than the originasl GLOCK barrel. I paid USA$98.00 for mine and worth every cent.

I'll put in a vote for the Wilson barrel. It required about half an hour of stoning and fitting the the rear of the barrel hood to the slide. I'm happy with it.

Check out Dillon's offerings @$99. I have no knowledge of them other than seeing them in the catalog this AM. DALE

Good to see you here again, Ron.

I saw Ron's barrel at the time he obtained it, and it was VERY well finished. I've also examined several Bar-Sto barrels, and they exhibit similar quality of workmanship--but cost twice as much.

I haven't been prompted to find an aftermarket barrel for my sole Glock pistol (M-21), since its factory tube handles cast boolits quite well. The M-21's factory barrel is an 8-sided form with 1-16" twist, which may be lead-friendlier than the six-sided 9mm and 40 S&W bore form with their 1-10"/4 turns/meter twist rates. The 45 ACP is a pretty lead-friendly autopistol caliber anyway, and runs at a little more than half the pressure of the 9mm/357 SIG/40/10mm.

Mike brings up a point with the CZ-75 statement--I have a 75B in 40 S&W, and chose it due to its 6-groove/1-16" twist rate in factory trim. It is a SUPERB cast boolit platform. My thoughts are that if a Glock 9mm or 40 S&W found its way into my gun safe......an aftermarket barrel would come along for the ride.

I am the proud owner of a Lone Wolf barrel of my G21. It works fine.

I don't dispute 9.3's view on his G21. My experience was a little different. I have a first generation G21 in 45 acp. It went ka-boom. I assessed it to be a case web failure, probably unrelated to the rifling. Magazine latch broke in half (cutting me pretty good and followed by a nice gas jet burn). Magazine was blown apart. Sights got dinged up when I dropped it. The good news is that Glock repaired it at no cost. I bought a Lone Wolf barrel and am happily in business again. I'm glad that I didn't get badly hurt.

It was hard for me to decide between Storm Lake and Lone Wolf. I still don't think it matters a whole lot. Neither is a Bar-Sto or KKM, but for the price and performance I won't complain.

One of these days I'll put a Lone Wolf in my G17. Just as soon as I find a 124 grain boolit mold that I like for 9mm.

I have a Storm Lake in my G17 simply because it was on sale and I snagged it for 50 bucks. It works great and the chamber is tighter than the Glock factory barrel.

I have had a case head blow out in the G 17 Glock, but I was shooting the Storm Lake barrel when it occurred. I have to attribute that one to a case that had been loaded one time too many. Take care, CJ.

I was wondering what size of groups people getting with their factory and aftermarket barrels?
