I shot my M41 for first time today. I'm pretty happy. Shot some light rounds with Lee Cruise Missles, 20 gns 4895, and Norma brass.

What distance was that?

Beenw orking with a sporterized Swede I haven't been able to get to shoot very well at all. All the threads I've read said that cruise missile wasn't good in the Swedes. Seems to work in the Carcano.

That was only 25 yds. I don't have access to a 50 and the 100 was full. The CM group was better than my pistol caliber carbine was today at 25. I guess you would expect that with the 25" barrel.

Mine does best .268-.269 inch. You will get oval bullet holes but they should group OK. "Wobbly Bottom Syndrome."

Nice shooting. Interesting stock. Is that a "butter knife" bolt handle? Did you do the alteration? From the one photo it looks like a good job.

The gun was already sporterized when I got it, but was missing parts. The barrel was cut 2" from the original, but it isn't a gain twist Carcano so it isn't affecting accuracy much. I had to find new front and rear sights. I did the swirl paint job and it turned out great. Google swirl paint and you will see how to do it. I'm okay with the butter knife after I polished it up quite a bit.166116

My barrel slugged smaller than most I've read about. .265 grooves. I started with .266 and then shot .267 CMs. I may try some .268s and see what happens. I saw no evidence of high pressure.

Only high pressure problems when using .268 bullets in conventional .264 bores come from use in chambers with tight necks. A proper Carcano chamber should have no problem with .268 bullets, and could likely digest slightly larger boollets.
