I have enough money to buy one mold from lee on titan. I have a 45-70 marlin 1895 (2yrs old) I was hoping someone could send a few .457-450rnfp, and if anyone has the .459-500rn a few of those, reason I want to try the 500 is I like the lube grooves of the hollow base, but it is a single cavity, and just recently I dropped mine and now the spud wont line up and it wont cast good boolits, I have tried everything to line it back up, but it ain't happenin'. I would really appreciate itoh as far as the 500's in a tube magazine, I plan on trimming the noses flat. thank you all for atleast listening. I am almost out of boolits, and am starting to get the shakes! lol!

I think you really need/could use them, otherwise you wouldn't have asked.
I don't have either mold otherwise I would send you a box full.
but I bet someone here does.

I don't have those molds but I would like to see pictures (in detail) of your damaged mold - if you don't mind taking the time.

Buy one good one, VS several cheap ones.

http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product_info.php?cPath=42_145&products_id=2631

Designed to fit an 1895 Marlin, and the only round that fits all 3 45/70s, lever and 2 single shots

For checks buy a bag of 1000 or one of Pat Matins check maker, and make yer own like we do.

Moderator,

Please move this thread to Helping Hands so he can receive some help.

Lead Fred's recommended mould is still in stock as 2 GC, 2 PB, or 1 PB & 1 GC.

KIDD,

How do you like to shoot them, fast or slow?
Do you like plain base or gas check moulds?
How do you size and lube them? What lube do you use?

I shoot at a maximum of around 1400fps, that's going by what the books say, I don't have a chrono. I like plain base boolits and I pan lube them, I have tried lees liquid alox, but got leading at the last 5-6 inches of the barrel, even when ther boolits have 2 coatings. it just runs out of alox before it runs out of barrel. I really prefer pan lubes, well id like a lube sizer, but you know what kind of lube I mean

Would plain base boolits from the mould in Lead Fred's post work for you?

it has nice deep lube grooves and a good crimp groove, and a big meplat (looks like a pig killer), I guess I might have to do withought and try to get that later, would lee 2 cavity handles work on it?

Kidd, are you talking about the Lee 459-405 hollow base mold?

If this is the mold, PM your addy and I will send you one.

I have settled on the Lyman 457643 boolit for my Marlin 1895. The Lee mold is used, but in excellent shape, and it is yours for a grand total of $0.

Just pass something along to someone else someday. It is kind of a tradition with the folks here!
