I've confirmed that my local shop always has r7 powder...

With cast 155 gr bullets what have you all found accurate?

From older books it looks like 18ish gr is the starting point.

I'm kinda curious what the max side of things would be...

The NOE .311-155FN works great for me in the '06. I use 30 grains of RL7 to approximate .30-30 velocity for hunting and use it in my 03A3 Springfield and Winchester Model 54 boltguns. On the low end about 24 grains works well for about 1700 fps. If I want lower velocity than that I use 16 grains of Alliant #2400 or 8 grains of Bullseye.

The (dude) behind the counter told me he uses 32 gr for his 160gr cast bullets. he claims it's 2200 fps.

I know better then to believe someone I don't know, which is why I'm asking here.

In my .308's 20-25 grains RLDR 7 under 180 RCBS or 190 311332 gives excellent accuracy, mild pressure.

I've had good results with Reloder 7 and the 165 grain silhouette bullet cast from an RCBS mould using an alloy approximating Lyman #2 (15-16 BNH). Size diameter .310" and 24 grs Reloder 7. Tried this years ago and never chronographed it. Accuracy deteriorated with 26 grs.

I don't generally shoot light bullets in a .30-06, but, according to my notes, Reloder 7's accuracy potential consistently suffered with bullets heavier than about 185 grains. I would think you've made a wise powder choice for a light bullet.

I've used 25 gr's with all my cast in the '06 and had very good results.
