I do not have a master caster but this below is the base for my casting needs

I fit a piece of 3/4" plywood for a lower shelf and a piece to the top and have it set up to accept a removable table top that is a little bit bigger than the base area

I've a repurposed top that is 1 1/4" Masonite that has formica on the top. It works really well for casting. Lead doesn't stick. Easy to clean.....

A piece of 1/4 plate (2'x4') on a 2x4 wooden platform makes a nice one. Last for a long time too.

I usually hit up the local building supply store for damaged solid core doors- they usually have one side that is still good, are very heavy and ridged, and can usually be had for a song. Makes a great table top....

I found this table on craigslist for 60 dollars. It's my my multi-purpose outdoor work station! I just finished stripping it down and applied 4 coats of hammered paint.

my casting table is a boughten tool bench from lowes but because I burned my pole barn down casting on a wooden table I put ceramic floor tiles on this one. My fire was due to me stacking up ingots to top off a half filled pot and firing up the pot and leaving it to melt. I must have had to many ingots and it overflowed onto the wood table and caught fire.

I think about you whenever I add ingots to my pot. Your tragedy has made me a lot safer.

I built my casting table from used 2x6's, glued and screwed together. Now that I no longer have access to used blocking and bracing, if I were to build another one I would either scrounge or buy (the horror) some decent 2xwhatever and do the same.

By making it yourself, you can size it to your needs.

Build it twice as heavy as you think you will need.

Space at a premium? check out www.ruggedbuddy.com for their folding shooting bench. Would also work on a 32"x48" bench.

Three sizes of these. I have the big one I use next to a mill. Solid. If you get on Enco's e mail list they have free shipping codes several times a month.

My intent is to build one of concrete a few feet from my barn. Haven't done it yet, but my idea is an overly stout picnic style table. This will be for my reclaiming operation.

My Master Pot is on a steel framed table with a wood top, but Loyd's tale has me rethinking that. That wood top may get replaced with a concrete slab.

boatswainsmate, nice setup.

How much weight will one of these tolerate?
