A freind used to let me use his mould
But he moved and I never liked to borrow anyway

Tired of playing the BS game trying to win a 358318 on Ebone or any other place

And then praying it casts a large enough Boolit [smilie=b:[smilie=b:

So as soon as I get my tax refund , I plan on ordering a mould from Mouniain Moulds

I plan on ordering it to drop .360 and ............. I forgot what I need the nose di. to be
I will slug the Wellen again to be sure

I also plan on a 50% meplate instead of the round nose

But I need some spec's ( shot up my stash and didn't keep one to measure ):groner:

How long is the nose ?
OAL ?

Would you oder the step shank or straight GC shank ?

Any other spec I forgot to ask about ( Bad case of CRS tonight )

Thanks
John

Nose, as near as I can measure, is about .640" long.

OAL (with GC in place) = 1.055"

I would go with the stright shank, but that's just personal preference.

That FN will make a good boolit even better! I love mine.

Sounds like your bullet is going to end up looking a lot like the RCBS , 35 cal , 200 gr. g/c.

Jonch, take a look at Beartooth Bullets .35 rifle - 200 gr. and 210 gr.. They are both great looking bullets. There might be something interesting design wise for you. I have some of both ordered up, but still waiting. Want to use them in my Rem. 700 .35 Whelan. Would be interested to know what you come up with for final design and whether you go with aluminum, brass on ductile iron. I could not find and prices on Mountain Molds website.

I am looking for a 250 gr ish bullet
As I ran a GB on a 220 gr bullet that shoots great
But I would like to use a heavyer bullet

Prices and weights for a 2 cavity standard sized mould are as listed on MM 's site

Alumin $85 12 Oz
Brass $90 22 oz
Iron $110 20 oz ??

I am thinking Iron
But might go Brass or even AL
I have to talk to a freind that has 2 or 3 of each and pick his brain

This is a work in progress
This is a 250 gr
.360
.351 nose
.6 nose length
60% meplate

John,

Do you own a SAECO 352? Are you sure you need a .360" boolit? My SAECO 352 will drop a .3600-.3605" boolit in clip-on WW metal but it needs to be Beagled in order to do that; otherwise, it drops a .3590-.3595" boolit.

Yea I need .360
Bore is .3585 to .3587 depending on how I measure the slug

The chamber is generous enough to take a larger slug
I plan on sluging the throat and doing a chamber cast before I order

So I might even go a touch larger

I always figure , 40K PSI will size the bullet as it enters the rifling

I would recommend that you do your throat cast now before you fall in love with a design.

I generally see what I have to work with and let that drive my nose length etc. What you need may well be vastly different and even require more weight to maintain the same charistics. IMO.

Then after I get those measurements I design what I think I want. I design once a week without looking at the last drawings. When I am done, I compare them. If I design the same bullet three times in a row, I order the mold.
