As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside privately and told them what was going to happen to him.“Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die. Then they will hand him over to the Romans to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead.”Matthew 20:17-19 NLT (https://www.biblegateway.com/button/votd/bcv)

It's always hard to tell your friends, "The party's over." But how much harder it was to lay down his blameless life for those who willfully commit every sin in the book? And yet, He did it all, and He did it willingly and without ever backing up. He prayed in the garden that this cup might pass from him, but when it couldn't, he arose, and laid himself on the altar for our heinous sins. That's not a simple hero. THAT, is very simply, a SAVIOR! And how can we not thank God for Him, and what He did? Truly, this MUST be the real Son of the Living God! Our savior, our friend, and our everything!
