I hope some of you single action lovers might show us some pictures of your babies. I only have one so far, but I now realize that I could collect only Colt SAA and be a happy man. I just seen a beautiful Bisley in this forum, and would love to see some more.

At the moment, I only have one. I got it from my best friend who got it from another feller. Both did not pull the trigger, so I got to be the first one. It also has a factory numbered 45 acp cylinder, but I seem to get the most enjoyment out of the 45 Colt cylinder. I probably have between 1500 and 2000 rounds down the pipe.

The only blemish is on the trigger guard. I put it on the ground, on a rug, to check a target, and my wife kicked my Colt into a Ruger GP 100 that she was shooting--also on the ground while she went to check her target. I was not a happy husband. Anyhow, here she is. I am not a good photographer.

Y'all put'em out here...I love them and love to look at them. All I have is clone's...but I love them, too.

I would say clones are just as pretty to look at. After all, my late third Colt is a clone of the original. It does have a removable cylinder bushing. I think that was a nice touch by Colt R and D team. My buddy has one of the finest Ruger Vaqueros I have ever seen. I'll see if he might post a pic tomorrow. I can't remember who did the work, but I know it is someone famous in the custom scene.

Here is my clone - a Cimarron .44 Special that shoots REALLY well. The only fly in the ointment is the First Generation Colt type sights. King of hopeless with my present eyesight. Further, it doesn't quite shoot to the sights.

However, it DOES shoot VERY well (under 1" at 25 yards) and has an excellent trigger (maybe even a bit too light with NO creep). I think it is pretty, too:

However, my very favorite single action is my SS Ruger Flattop .44 Special. It meets John Taffin's description of a "Perfect Packing Pistol", has adjustable sights (great sight picture) and shoots well under 1" at 25 yards off a rest.

Holy Hannah! That is a beautiful picture Shoot-n-lead. That looks like at least one for every flavor. They're all pretty, but that little birds head really grabs the eye.

Nice little pile of single action there - I think they must multiply while we sleep at night. I have a Cimarron clone in 32-20 and a Lipsey's Ruger in 44 spec. - But no camera. Have always been kind of fascinated by the "Sheriff" configuration with no ejector assembly - But usually they only are found in 2 or 3 inch - too short for me.

Thanks birch...I like the birdshead, also. The blue gun that is directly opposite of the birdshead is my favorite of the Sheriff's, though. It is in 44 Spec...which is my cartridge of choice. These guns are mostly .44 Spec and .357mag...only 2 are 45 Colt as I am not much of a Colt fan, at all.

And, to think, people often ask me why I cast boolits...they don't understand what it takes to feed the herd.

Not a Colt, but a very very close copy of a mid 1870s Colt. This one a U.S.Ptd. F.A. Caliber is 45 Colt of course.

Lots of pretty ones! I have been toying with the idea of adding some Ivory to my Colt. It's alot of money, but it sure does feel good in the hand. Some nice pics everyone. I could look at them all day.

I have a Colt .44 rimfire conversion. It is single action does it count? I made a display case for it with some extras added.

Are you sure that you didn't get that box from 'Wild Bill Hickok'…only thing I could think to add is a couple of 'double eagles' and a deck of old playing cards!

I've got one SAA at the Colt's factory getting my years of law enforcement service engraved onto the blackstrap and another SAA at Cylinder and Slide getting a new wider front sight.

Maybe I've got a personal issue of excess with Colt SAA's, but you only live once.

165284 .44-40s. MUCH better fit-and-finish than the 3rd gen. Colts I had.

Years ago (before the Harley Davidson craze ate my gun collection) I had some VERY NICE old Colts. 1922 45x7 1/2 King's conversion, 1927 45x5 1/2 factory nickeled with pearl (real) stocks, lettered, 1898 45x4 3/4 BP frame, 2nd Gen 45x5 1/2, 3rd Gen 45x4 3/4, but the one I miss the most was a 1902 45x4 3/4 with very little finish left in the protected areas, it had nicks on the bottom of the barrel and erh from knocking out a window to shoot at cattle rustlers, and was carried by a member of the posse that rode out and tracked these hombres and brought them in. This was in Wyoming around 1910. This gun stayed in the man's family until I acquired it. Documented cowboy history and I let it get away.. STILL KICKING myself over that one and the nickel and pearl 45.. Well like Silver Jack Hammer says, you only live once and it was time for a change..

Anyway, I ran across this Uberti "Old West" model that I got from a friend that looks JUST LIKE the old cowboy gun I had, that thing was tight as a new drum! So this clone of the peacemaker will have to do, and oddly enough the fact that Uberti really outdid themselves with it's "antiqued" coin metal finish sorta lets it scratch the Colt itch pretty good. I don't think a new in the box cattleman would have the same intrinsic value as this newly patina'ed model has. Every detail possible was copied from an 1875 "pinched frame" Colt SAA, down to the .4565" cylinder throats, black powder bevel on the cylinder, hammer spur and all. The only thing they didn't faithfully copy was the .454" groove diameter and the tall thin rifling of the old black powder SAA barrel, it has a modern .451" barrel but still shoots .456" boolits very nicely!

My very first Colt SA, traded for about a month ago. A 1902 production in 38-40.

Single actions are cool no matter who makes them. I like them all some better then others. A house is not a home with out one in it.
